A Little Wonder
--------------------

The sound of a thousand fish in the sea
all swimming toward you and me
begging us to swim with them and be
a little safer with water - now sit quietly.

Towering over our valley
a freak of nature, a genetic anamoly.
What will it take to see
your life is safer, so just sit quietly.

Concentration is good for the soul.
A little dirt is good for the hole.
A little lovin' will make you who you are.
A little wonder will make you crash your car.

These are not the final words of a dying man
These are not the final words of a dying man.

Beginning With You Here
-------------------------
Have I been walking alone for this?
Have I been walking these hundred miles
for nothing other than a few damn smiles?
They'll never be good for anything.

And the city's been changing the lights for some fifteen years...

And the road outside is always cold;
The writing on the wall will never get old;
I'm sick and tired of waiting around for this.

Has everything else passed on but us?
Where are the signs of the way that things are supposed to be?
No one knows - we'll know - just wait and see...
I think that everything else is gone.

And the city's been changing its ways for some fifteen years...

Where are the reds and the bubbles and the trees and the others from yesterday?
I never noticed that the ones we always hated are standing in a heaven's way.

Casual Sex
----------
Going to some show tonight
looking for myself in the mirror;
Hoping I won't cause a fright -
the show is near and getting nearer.

My clothes are trash and my hair is fried
making peace with the God of Love,
so come with me - let's walk tonight
underneath the stars above.

Oooh, you're never coming down to me from heaven.
Oooh, but you'll run from me 'fore we count to seven.
Oh! Oh! Oh! The light is red but my heart is green.
Oooh, unfortunately you're somewhere in between,
you're somewhere in between.

I'm in the crowd at the show tonight
wondering where my baby is.
Something here just don't feel right,
So I stop some girl and say, 'Hey lil' Miss,
I see true love in your eyes pretty girl.
Come with me around the world,
or at least come back to my house tonight,
cuz right here with you, it feels so right.'

Oooh, you're never coming down to me from heaven.
Oooh, but you'll run from me 'fore we count to seven.
Oh! Oh! Oh! The light is red but my heart is green.
Oooh, unfortunately you're somewhere in between,
you're somewhere in between.

I drove her back to my trailer trash;
I saw the headlights on my cat
(hasn't had no shots in 'bout six years),
So I whispered in her ear,
and she whispered back, 'Is this your place?'
and I said, 'Hell yea! What's wrong with that?'
So I never again saw her face,
So here I am alone with my cat.

Oooh, you're never coming down to me from heaven.
Oooh, but you'll run from me 'fore we count to seven.
Oh! Oh! Oh! The light is red but my heart is green.
Oooh, unfortunately you're somewhere in between,
you're somewhere in between.

Charismatic Charm
--------------
Unwilling lines forming behind the days;
Sadly to say, we'll feel it always.
And when the moon comes we'll just play away,
Searching in vain for something better to say.

On a Saturday night just before
the lights go off and the cameras flash,
we learn who we are and what we're here for;
we learn how to end it all with a crash.

A crash - a stab in the back.
A look - two looks and a light gone black.
And with these things they can destroy me,
and with those darts - a bill for coffee.
Just please don't worry.

So now that we're rendered pointless,
and now that those days are getting more and more missed,
we tell ourselves it won't hurt long;
we soothe our minds with a sad song.

A song of another's pain.
We long, we long to be thought sane.
But, alas, we can't control this;
and, alas, we won't be missed,
so help yourself to another kiss -
that cheek's a thief and holds no special gift.

So now that we're rendered pointless,
and now that those days are getting more and more missed,
we learn who we are and what we're here for;
we learn how to end it with a settled score.

We construct better days
for us to pray;
we think that it's different outside the walls of this town.
Don't speak with a mouth full of suede -
you don't fool any one of us,
it's just those better days
keep making us live on
for something outside our door;
for something just a little more;
I just wanted it all I guess.

Forgotten Melody
-----------------
This day came a little too fast - where we used tolive.
Your pretty picture's still hanging around - not toomuch to give.
Flipped back, twisted upside down outside the in;
stuck in a hole with nowhere to go - stop really quick.

The men they always say - 'Go down to Canaan land,'
but me, I always say, 'Forget about Eden - it was one
of your impossible dreams.'

Little Billy
-------------
The sea called the boy back day after day
and on the dock he sat to watch the waves play.
At school he told them of his future at sea
and they laughed so he said, 'Just wait it will be.'
Moon after moon and sun after sun,
he waited for that day - he knew it would come.

Little Billy was falling in love.
He was falling in love with the sea.

So a day came when the wind was real smooth
and our boy was now a man, a sailor he proved to be.
So boat he stocked up with things for his world,
the boat he packed up and his mast was unfurled.
The sea was now the land and the land was gone;
the sailor now was leaving for the waves calling him
on.

Little Billy was now in love.
He fell in love with the sea.

Day after day and night after night,
the man sailed the sea without hindsight.
And then one day a storm kicked up,
and tore up his boat and left him amuck.
The thunder boomed and the waves grew longer;
Our sailor kept sailing farther and farther.
Then, with a crash his boat toppled down
and with a splash our sailor did drown.

Little Billy fell into the sea.
The waves swallowed him up.

Mind Made Cures
--------------------

'Lead us on,' says the moon
'Make us one,' says that same moon
So now that we realize this house of fools -
this house, this house of rules,
we are filled with eternity's graceful mess
and we become screamers, ghosts at best.

Mind made cures can be everywhere.
Check the doctor - he's sure to be fair.

A scream can be the meaning of everything;
a word can be the death of anything.
Outside on the ground you have found
death with blood splattered on your head.

The mind made cures won't leave you alone
they're in your head - they've invaded your home.

And so the ravens comin' down...
making sure the clouds surround...
the tide laps at your feet and heels...
and then the grass it pulls away from these fields we
call, 'Earth'
and so we watch the days take flight...
i'm so sorry that I ruined your night again...
and then the words I left unsaid resurface...
and then those words they gain a depth and purpose...

When the night drops around us,
we'll be there with our knives and reasons.
So don't fuck - don't you fuck with us -
you, night - with lies about trust.

Mind made cures won't cure you of anything;
they're just there to make you trust everything.

Miracle Camikini
-----------------
Watching Buddha planting trees;
trees that sway in the wind-blown breeze;
breeze from the valley below -
below to church where the hookers go.

Miracle Camikini

Watching Ghandi fixing dinner;
dinner for a lonely sinner;
sinner from the valley below -
below to church where the hookers go.

Ode to an Indian
-------------------------------

She eats music for lunch
She likes salad for brunch
Although breakfast can be fun
She likes "sometimes" more than "none."

She can write my windy
day away with this ->

"I love flowers in my hair;
I love summer's noon day fair;
Seems like always is the sky;
Seems like never is truth a lie."

See how she can care less
About all the rest.
As long as music is for lunch
and Sally is with the bunch.

She wants to be
thought of sentimentally.
And, you see, I know
just how (in the end) things will go.

She is gorgeous like a star
She doesn't care who you are.
She is beautiful always.
She likes sunny, pretty days.

She can sign my sadness
away to death with this ->

"I like moonbeams and earth;
I like ants in the dirt;
I wish right now was just a phase;
I wish music was always."

She hopes to be
thought of sentimentally.
So don't close your eyes -
All these thoughts are "Goodbye"s.

If she can save one person
from a life gone wrong; (2x)

If she can save one person
from a sad song...

The Smokes
--------------------
the world is a fast car
bribing you to stay on the highway
but you don't care
about all that and the uptakes and stay lates.
you're content here all alone and
you'll never change the books and the doors
from your bedroom.
You won't budge just to settle some stupid score.

(at least not with her)

now you will never see the light of day.
now you will never know what it is to be the sun.
you're too damn busy for the people that are here for
you
and know you and too busy for everything that is you

just because you're moving around
doesn't mean i can't still shoot you down.
i'll just lead you to the ground
and there you'll stop and listen to the sound
of the world speeding by;
and just because it's a fast car
doesn't mean it knows where it's going;
and just because it can go far
doesn't mean it's ahead of me in the race,
and it's taken life and ripped off its face,
so i'll set my aims now
and lead you on like a hunter
and lay you out just to show you how

(things are changed)

follow me into nod.
sicken down your epithet.
yearnings for another fog, but
you aren't in London yet.

Two Days from Sorrow
---------------------
Years they pass by
nobody knows why
mother told me
to let go...
I let go.
Ghosts and dolls they
pass the day away
to go off somewhere
nobody knows...
but I know.
Jesters and clowns
kingdom goes up; down
passage of the smiles
what are these trials?
they're just gone.

'Who goes where?' - why ask why?
you seize my breaks they're dropping from the sky
but, 'how goes it?' - that's what they told me
two days from sorrow and never turning back again.

Once I thought I knew it
dancing from bar to bar
smoke filled heaven
leaping from what star?
daytime - no stars.
Urban cityscape
lose all your sin here
priests will help you
just all the way from den to den...
lose this home.
Paper scatter
out on your front porch
what does it matter?
who goes what way?
it's my way.

'Where goes time?' - who asks that?
you seize my breath it's caught up in the facts
but, 'how goes it?' - that's what they told me
two days from sorrow with nowhere to go.
